How we calculate savings

1. Where the prices come from

Displayed prices come from the current weekly flyers, pulled through Flipp for the postal code you enter. In Quebec, new flyers take effect on Thursday and run through the following Wednesday.

When an item is not on sale this week, we fall back to a reference price for that store: an estimate of the regular price, not a live in-store reading. Those items are shown without a deal badge.

2. How savings are calculated

The amount shown is the sum of three components, computed only on the items in YOUR plan:

• Flyer discounts — the gap between the regular price and the flyer price, for each discounted item.
• Price matching — when an item is cheaper at a competitor and your store price-matches, we count the gap. This saving is only real if you actually request the match at checkout.
• Activated coupons — the value of coupons you activated yourself. Coupons you did not activate are not counted.

Until you check any item, the total is presented as "potential savings" on the full list. As soon as you check items off, we recompute on your actual cart.

3. What the "$2,500/year" figure means

It is a projection, not a measured average across our users. We take the average weekly savings observed on generated plans and multiply by 52, assuming weekly use every week of the year.

Concretely: if you use JustShoppingSmart every other week, the projection is twice too high for you. The only number that really applies to you is the one shown on YOUR plan, each week.

4. The satisfaction guarantee

It covers the Premium subscription: if you don't save at least $60 during your first paid month, we refund that first month.

How to file a claim

• Email justshoppingsmart@gmail.com with the subject "Satisfaction guarantee".
• Provide: the email address used for your subscription, the date of your first payment, and the weeks you used the app.
• Processing time: we reply within 5 business days, and the refund is processed through Stripe within 10 business days after approval.
• Claims must be filed within 30 days after the end of your first paid month.
